Mount Hamilton Rd.

Last Saturday I took advantage of a very busy wife and went on a motorcycle ride. I went up to the Lick Observetory on top of Mount Hamilton, then back down to Livermore on Mines Rd.

It was great to be out on the motorcycle, however it wasn’t a great ride.

It had all the ingredients to make a great ride, good weather (for January), a twisty road and a running motorcycle. What else do you need?

A few things it turns out. You need to have a road that doesn’t have gravel in the apex of nearly every other corner. You also need to have an elbow that isn’t still hurt from an injury you had before Christmas. The elbow was particularly finicky on Saturday for the ride, I don’t know if I slept on it weird or what. However there is a saying about fishing that applies here. Even the worst day Fishing Motorcycling is still a damn good day.

I did get some good pictures though.

An artsy shot of the rising sun as I headed up the hill.

A selfie, hopefully proving it was me out there in the middle of nowhere.

Looking down from the Lick Observatory. The Road looks better than it actually is.

About MotoCynic

I started riding motorcycles in 2006, and there is no going back. I've ridden more than 100,000 miles, most of it on a Ducati Monster, and despite setbacks and murderous BMW's I'm loving every mile.
